The use of tomato sauce with pasta appeared for the first time in 1790 in the Italian cookbook L'Apicio moderno, by Roman chef Francesco Leonardi. ![]() The first Italian cookbook to include tomato sauce, Lo Scalco alla Moderna ('The Modern Steward'), was written by Italian chef Antonio Latini and was published in two volumes in 16. īernardino de Sahagún, a Franciscan friar from the Kingdom of Spain, is believed to be the first European to write about tomato sauce after encountering it for sale in the markets of Tenochtitlan ( Mexico City, today). However, much of Pre-Columbian cuisine history in Mexico, along with other culturally significant information, had been purged during the periods of conquest by Europeans, chiefly the Spanish. Tomato sauces, along with similarly related and prepared tomatillo sauces, are presumed to have been in use since antiquity by the peoples of Central and South America as bases for many dishes. In some of these countries, both terms are used for the condiment. In countries such as the United Kingdom, India, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, the term tomato sauce is used to describe a condiment similar to what Americans call tomato ketchup. ![]() All of these qualities make them ideal for simple and appealing sauces. Tomatoes have a rich flavor, high water content, soft flesh which breaks down easily, and the right composition to thicken into a sauce when stewed without the need for thickeners such as roux or masa. Tomato sauces are common for meat and vegetables, but they are perhaps best known as bases for sauces for Mexican salsas and Italian pasta dishes. Tomato sauce (also known as salsa roja in Spanish, sauce tomate in French or salsa di pomodoro in Italian) can refer to many different sauces made primarily from tomatoes, usually to be served as part of a dish, rather than as a condiment. ![]()

Been over a week now of incorrect sizes being ordered from amazon lol. Literally, this is the only thing left that I need to do, to fix our dryer. Which leads me to believe (now, at least), that I need one thats 5/16 in size to connect to it. I measured the same connector of the heating element, and you can see it's just a hair bigger than 1/4 and just a hair smaller than 3/8. I need a connector to fit this male end. Making it way too wide and loose on the male part on the heating element. Meaning that the new female connector I bought was bigger that the size I needed. ![]() I thought I had it correct with 3/8, but when it arrived the male part of the set was exactly as wide as the old female connector I lost. So I did that, but now I can't find any in the right size. But now I'm realizing I should of measures the male part, not the female part. So far, I bought ones that were too small, way to small, or too big. Only I didn't realize how annoying this would be to find one that is the right size! It was burned up and I figured I couldn't use it anyway, so I'd buy a new one. I lost the old connector or terminal that connect to the heating element. (Well, I haven't soldered in a while, screwed up a couple times, and said screw it, I'll use a Wing Nut wire connector) - Īnyway after I got all that done. So I bought some 14 AWG wire, same as the one the dryer was using, and decided to solder on a new piece with heatshrink. Only to find out, when I was about to install it, that the wire burned off. I assumed it was the same thing, so I bought another one. So our dryer stopped heating again, for the second time.įirst time, it was a bad heating element. ![]() John Paul IIĪt any given moment, life is but a snapshot of the full picture of our lives. Look forward to the future with confidence.” –St. Halfway through our 12 inspiring Thanksgiving quotes from Catholic saints and already so much great material to contemplate! / 7. When we are aware of our wretchedness and sinfulness, we then grow in gratitude for all the ways God protects us and gives us chance after chance to return to Him wholeheartedly. It is a total gift of self, which is made in thanksgiving for all that God has done to redeem us in His mercy. Love of God requires more than affection and devotion. Jesus belongs to us out of mercy, but we belong to Jesus out of justice. “O my God, let me remember with gratitude and confess to thee thy mercies toward me.” –St. A heart that loves God is so full that it cannot be contained within itself, and so its thankfulness is expressed through love. In order to grow in humility, we must first be humiliated, and humility bears the fruit of charity and gratitude. Though quite radical, we can reflect on the meaning of this quote. Ignatius of Loyola is known for his self-punitive measures as a form of perpetual penance, so perhaps this is why he believed gratitude included not merely an acceptance, but rather a longing to be made a fool. ![]() “Out of gratitude and love for Him, we should desire to be reckoned fools.” –St. ![]() Therese knew that a grateful heart was one full of prayer that needn’t be uttered in superfluous words. This cannot be separated from the truth about who we really are – nothing – in light of the truth about who God is – everything. When we love God, we think of Him always with the consideration of His love for us. Mental prayer, which the early Carmelites promoted and perfected, certainly may include a simple thought of thanksgiving lifted to God in the heart. It is a cry of gratitude and love in the midst of trial as well as joy.” –St. It is a simple glance directed to Heaven. When God permits something to happen that frustrates or thwarts our grandiose plans, we believe He is punishing us when, in fact, we should thank Him for drawing us closer to Him through means contrary to our desires. In fact, some of these pursuits may masquerade as hidden vices. Sometimes we perceive life circumstances to be misfortunate, contributing to our demise or preventing us from proceeding with our plans, our hopes and dreams. “A man wanted to do evil, but first prayed as usual and finding himself prevented by God, he was then extremely thankful.” -St. Ambrose reminds us that it’s not only necessary but urgent to thank others, because thankfulness breeds appreciation and kindness. It seems most of us are quick to grouse about problems with a product or service, but when we receive exceptional care, it may go unstated. How tragic that most companies receive more complaints than compliments. “No duty is more urgent than that of returning thanks.” - St. It is as if He made each detail of all these wonderful, living things for my enjoyment and care. ![]() When I see an unusual variety of insects or birds in the spring and summer or marvel at the vibrant colors of the flowers, my heart is filled with wonder and gratitude to God. I like to take walks with our dog and breathe in the country air, allowing my senses to be filled with the wonders of creation all around me. We know that God reveals Himself through all of creation, but when we are immersed in a natural setting, we may forget that He created everything as a gift for us. “In all created things discern the providence and wisdom of God, and in all things give Him thanks.” - St. ![]() ![]() ![]()
![]() Ībout the Nazca Lines, Paul Devereux argues that they are walking tracks, and that their pattern mainly reveal the religious beliefs of the Kogi Indians around sacred roads. This idea then bloomed in the psychedelic movement of the 1960s and became a pillar of the New Age philosophies. He also mentions Aimé Michel's 1958 book, Flying Saucers and the Straight Line Mystery, which stipulates that UFOs followed straight specific lines, an idea that ex-RAF pilot Tony Wedd later linked to Alfred Watkins' The Old Straight Track. He argues that fake information about ley lines started in 1936 with Dion Fortune's book Goat-Foot God where the author introduced the idea that ley lines have mystic power. Paul Devereux' work on ley lines was mainly focused on debunking the mystical properties falsely attributed to them. This can be demonstrated quite conclusively». According to him, Alfred Watkins' alignments «were really just chance alignments of points on maps. His first order was an article on the mystical power of ley lines, but none of the writers could provide concrete documentation on the matter. In 1976, Paul Devereux took over as editor of the magazine The Ley Hunter. Work Ley lines ĭevereux is indelibly associated with “leys", or “ ley lines". Devereux is a co-founder and the managing editor of the academic publication Time & Mind – the Journal of Archaeology, Consciousness and Culture, a research associate with the Royal College of Art (2007–2013), and a Research Fellow with the International Consciousness Research Laboratories (ICRL) group at Princeton University. ![]() Paul Devereux (born 1945) is a British author, researcher, lecturer, broadcaster, artist and photographer based in the UK. ![]() ![]() ![]() You can also convert RTF, plain text, HTML and even various image formats.
